39 Week Report

Yeah, today was my last doctor's appointment! Dr. Smith reports that I am a tight 4 or a very loose 3. It pretty much was the same old routine except that the doctor stripped my membrane hoping this would help send me into labor on my own. Nothing has happened as of yet so more likely Jeremy and I will show up for our induction appointment on Friday July 31st at 6am. I'm hoping for a delivery that is half the time it took to have Grayson. This should make it so that Baby Hudson will make his appearance around noon or shortly after. I'll try to call, text, post as soon as possible afterwards so everybody knows he is here. Stay tuned!

38 Week Report

I am still 3 cm dilated so no change since last week. But since babies grow half pound per week we did talk about the risks involved in delivering a large baby. We have tentatively set an induction date for Friday July 31st. Maybe Hudson will come on his own before then. Stay tuned!

37 Week Report

So yesterday was my 37 week appointment. I had a sonogram to determine size and then a visit with the doctor to see how I've progressed. My sister Melissa and cousin Ashley went with me because they wanted to be there during the sonogram. They really are the coolest invention! To be able to move a wand around on your belly and see the baby is such an amazing thing. We started off just like normal checking to make sure everything is there and as it should be. Heart, check, all 4 chambers working, check, kidneys, check, stomach, check, is it still a boy?, check! The sonogram tech then located his thigh bone and measured it and then measured the width of his belly and announced (by the fancy machines calculations) that Baby Hudson was 8lbs 11 ounces. My jaw dropped to the floor. What! But Grayson was born one week later than this and was only 8.3! She just says, "2nd time babies are usually bigger". She tells me the doctor will be in soon and will re-calculate. Dr. Darby comes in and pulls the belly up on the screen and measures and measures and measures again, "yep, I'm getting everything between 8.10 and 8.14, this baby is definitely big!" Melissa and Ashley decided to stay with me and attend my doctors appt as well. My doctor is actually out of town this week so I was seen by a PA. We went through the normal procedures, they weigh me, they take a urine sample, and they check my blood pressure, everything comes back fine. Now, its time to be examined, ouch! The PA announces, "Your a 3!" Jeez this is going so slow, I was really looking forward to hearing her say, "Your a 4", but no. Then she tells me the hospital has changed their rules and inductions aren't allowed until 39 weeks for non-medical reasons. I'm in shock. I was induced because of Grayson's size at 38 weeks and as much as I told myself I wanted to experience labor this time and that I didn't want to be induced I was not happy that if this baby doesn't come on his own I still have to be pregnant for another two weeks. I need to tell myself to breath and take it easy. This will happen, when it is supposed to happen and I just have big babies! Stay tuned.

36 Week Report

I was really pumped about going to the Doctor today. I was so sure I'd hear her say, "Wow, your progressing fast, I'd say you are dilated to a 3 or 4 and I think this baby will be here by weeks end. We should re-schedule your sonogram and see if we can get you in today because I don't think you will make it to Tuesday". I say this for several reasons, 1) I have been in pain, I mean PAIN, 2) This kid dropped by serious proportions, it looks like a completely different pregnancy, 3) I was just about on my feet for 14 hours straight on Saturday, you would have thought that alone would have sent me into labor. But, boy was I way off. She checks me and says you are like a 1.5 and I gasp, "What! you said I was almost a 2 last week". Then she says, "Well, you are like a good 3 on the outside and a tight 2 on the inside". What does that even mean!! She tells me I'm softening and that things are progressing so this is good news. It just was not what I was expecting to hear. So for those of you that are keeping up with me, it looks like nothing drastic is happening just yet. Stay tuned :)
