He is Here!!!

Excited to introduce to you the newest addition to the Blair Family, Hudson Davis. Born Friday July 31st at 3:20pm. He was 9 pounds 9 ounces and 21 inches long. We are all very happy to have him finally home.

Here is his story.......

We were scheduled for a 6am induction, this sounds early but since Grayson was a 4am induction we were happy with the time. We were told to come 30 minutes early for registration paperwork and so we were up at 4am and left the house at 5am. What a way to bring a baby into the world!

There was an emergency down the hall which apparently needed all the staff so we were left in our room watching the morning news for an hour before anybody ever came in. So instead of getting hooked up to the pitocin at 6am I wasn't hooked up until 8am. Thankfully my Doctor came in at 9:30am and broke my water which helped things progress.

For anybody who has ever had pitocin you know that the machine starts out at a level 2 and increases in increments of 2 until 30. The nurse told me that she would come in every 30 min to raise it but by the time I was a level 4 I was already experiencing intense enough contractions that it was never raised. They even got bad enough that I finally, through tears, called for the epi. It took the doctor 30 minutes to get to my room and get everything hooked up. The whole time I continued to have contractions. Once the anesthesiologist left I realized I could still feel everything on my left side. I was told to roll to my left and give it 30 minutes to see if we can get the medicine to move that way, it didn't. The anesthesiologist was called back in, he adjusted something on my back and put a medicine in my iv. Whatever he did worked, I was officially pain free.

Even though I could no longer feel the contractions the nurse came in and said that they are way too close together and intense so we turned the pitocin off. I was checked again and I was a 10, wahoo! The doctor was called and it was time to meet this little man. I only pushed for 20 minutes, much better then with Grayson where I pushed for an hour!

We had decided ahead of time that this would be our last baby and that I would go ahead after the delivery and get my tubes tied. While my epidural was still good I was wheeled down the hall to an operating room where I was given more medicine to put me in sort of a twilight. I was only in there for 30 minutes and then wheeled to recovery. I was only supposed to be in recovery for an hour but my postpartum room wasn't ready so I was left in there for 3 hours! The nurses were nice enough to let me break the rules and I was allowed more than one person at a time to visit me so that I could see the baby and finally Grayson and other family members. Around 7:30 I was wheeled to my postpartum room where I was welcomed by a bunch of family and friends.

39 Week Report

Yeah, today was my last doctor's appointment! Dr. Smith reports that I am a tight 4 or a very loose 3. It pretty much was the same old routine except that the doctor stripped my membrane hoping this would help send me into labor on my own. Nothing has happened as of yet so more likely Jeremy and I will show up for our induction appointment on Friday July 31st at 6am. I'm hoping for a delivery that is half the time it took to have Grayson. This should make it so that Baby Hudson will make his appearance around noon or shortly after. I'll try to call, text, post as soon as possible afterwards so everybody knows he is here. Stay tuned!
